Phrases I find slightly confusing, part I
"For all intents and purposes" -- Only because I spent the first 21 years of my life thinking it was "for all intensive purposes." Personally, I like my version better.
and this morning i found out the saying goes "six OF one, half a dozen of the other" and not "six TO one, half a dozen of the other" it never made sense to me so i would use the phrase in regards to things that didn't make sense. for example, "really? a goat just walked onto that city bus? well, six to one, half a dozen of the other.."
